Al-Cr alloy quasicrystals represent a novel type of solid material that features distinct structures and properties, offering significant potential for applications and research opportunities. In this paper, the characteristics of various preparation methods of Al-based quasicrystals were summarized, and the corresponding technical means used in the research of different Al-based quasicrystals were categorized. Subsequently, the quasicrystals structure of Al-Cr alloys were described from the point of approximate phases, and the structural parameters of seven types of approximate phases reported to date were summarized. Finally, the physical properties and application research results of Al-Cr-X alloy quasicrystals were analyzed, and the future application direction of Al-Cr-X alloy quasicrystals was prospected. It was suggested that exploring the hydrogen storage capacity of materials in the application of Al-Cr-X quasicrystals could be the main research direction to adapt to the international situation.
