Abstract
A statics model as well as a dynamics model for a Sendzimir mill have been established by finite elements to solve the edge wave defect during the cold rolling process of SUS430 stainless steel strip. The profile and flatness control effects were quantitatively analyzed by adjusting various rolling parameters such as reduction rate, entrance tension, exit tension, and first intermediate roll shifting. The coupling relationship between strip edge drop and flatness under different rolling process parameters was studied in order to analyze their effects on flatness defect control. The present work provides a theoretical basis and practical experience for the flatness defect control technology of a Sendzimir mill.
