Improving the fatigue lifetime prediction of screws for a large range of mean stresses
From a Finite Element analysis, the stress distribution in the notch of axisymmetric and highly loaded notched samples has been calculated. The samples are shaped like a thread root. We propose a simplified method of sizing screws for a large range of mean stresses. So, a local Haigh's diagramm at the thread root is built from the Haigh's diagram derived from smooth or notched samples.
