Hicast : a new approach to high speed casting*
Hicast : une nouvelle approche de la coulée continue à grande vitesse
Increasing the casting speed means increasing the strand productivity and therefore the plant output. The key points, for high speed casting, are a new concept for cooling the mould with a new mould design and an optimized secondary cooling. This innovative design allows to increase the casting speed substantially ; moreover, the mould is able to cast a wide range of steel grades (at a wide range of casting speeds), without altering other process parameters.
