Development of uniform secondary mist cooling technology for slab continuous casting*
Technique de refroidissement secondaire uniforme par atomisation en coulée continue de brames
The uniform cooling technology of secondary cooling zone has been developed at No. 3 slab CC in Kakogawa Works, Kobe Steel.
In order to prevent the transverse cracks formed on slab surface, this technology, which makes it possible to avoid the brittle temperature of slab surface, is especially required for the middle carbon steel (C = 0.10-0.18 %). Applying the soft reduction casting to improve the centerline segregation of the cast slab, it also plays a very important role for regulating the crater-end shape of the cast slab.
