The influence of particular raw material and operating parameters on the coking mechanism*
Influence de certaines matières premières et paramètres de marche sur le processus de cokéfaction
Uniform heating of the coke charge is an important factor in respect to energy saving and coke quality. Irregularities at the end of the coking period largely result from non uniform vertical temperature distribution in the flues and from bulk density variations over the height and over the length of the oven. The flue temperature is to be controlled. Performance losses of present day coking systems are, in several aspects, due to the use of wet coal.
Further, irregularities especially in bulk density influence internal gas pressure and thus is of importance to the stability of the oven walls.
