«Towards a better steelworks yield ». A report on the IISI special study *
Rapport de l'IISI sur l'amélioration des mises au mille en sidérurgie
The IISI study examined yields for some 95 works in 19 countries, determining reference yields for the main steelmaking, casting, hot and cold rolling and coating operations. The relationships between yields and types of plant, operating practices and product mix were assessed, leading to recommendations on the equipment and procedures required for high yield. The paper presents an overview of the results and conclusions of the study.
Subject of lecture at ATS Steelmaking Days 1992 (Paris, 16-17 December, 1992, Session 6).
The author would like to thank the international Iron and Steel Institute for permission to publish this paper and to record his appreciation for the support and efforts of all members of the study team during the execution of this major study.
