TMCP process including two accelerated cooling stages*
Procédé TMCP avec deux phases de refroidissement accéléré
To fulfill requirements of extraordinary heavy steel plate specifications a new production strategy of the TMCP process – the two stage cooling – has been developed and brought into application at Dillinger Hüttenwerke GTS. In this process not only final ACC after TM-rolling but also intermediate cooling (IC) before the final rolling stage is applied, using the existing ACC devices. The two stage cooling (IC+ACC) effects rolling efficiency, microstructure and mechanical properties of heavy plates. The homogeneity and the grain refinement produced by the IC+ACC process are responsible for the improvement of the mechanical properties.
