Comparative analysis of the acoustic emission spectra in copper and copper- aluminum single crystals
Etude comparative des spectres d’émission acoustique dans des monocristaux de cuivre et d’alliage cuivre-aluminium
Modern acoustic emission (AE) techniques with spectral analysis of power have been applied to single crystals of copper and Cu-AI deformed in tension. The features of AE corresponding to stages I, II and III of plastic deformation are described by parameters derived from the statistical treatment of the AE spectra. The behaviour in stages I and II is attributed to two mechanisms : dislocation escape at a free surface, breakaway from pinning points. The two materials studied differ more by the source activity than by the type of sources.
