COMET : a coal-based process for the production of high quality DRI from iron ore fines*
COMET : un procédé utilisant du charbon pour produire une éponge de fer de qualité à partir de minerai fin
CRM has developed the COMET process in order to produce high quality DRI from iron ore fines and crushed coal. A pilot installation (design capacity : 100 kg DRI/h) is operated at CRM since February 1997. The test results demonstrate that the COMET process enables the continuous production of a highly metallized DRI (> 92 %) with a low gangue content (< 4%) and a low sulphur content (< 0.050 %).
