Short term revamping of No. 6 blast furnace in Chiba Works*
Faible durée de réfection du haut-fourneau 6 de Kawasaki-Chiba
The Chiba No. 6 blast furnace was blown-in in June 1977 and finished its first campaign of 20 years and 9 months in March 1998. The revamping for the second campaign was executed in a short period of only 62 days and to realize this programme, a new revamping method was developed. This method consists in disassembling the furnace body in several blocks and of assembling four prefabricated blocks by a jack-up system.
