Control of the residual stress of plates*
Contrôle des contraintes résiduelles dans les plaques
The effects of non-uniform levelling in the width of the plate and of the thermal stress during aircooling were investigated by means of the Finite Element Method and model testing.
It was confirmed that the thermal stress during air-cooling causes the residual stress although the internal stress was decreased by the hot-levelling whether the temperature distribution was uniform or not.
