The study investigated the effect of Cr3C2-25wt%NiCr coating on the wear resistance of the A356 substrate, which was obtained using a high-velocity oxy-fuel (HVOF) process. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray diffraction, microhardness, adhesion strength, and wear tests were used to analyze the coating’s composition, microstructure, and properties. The Cr3C2-25 wt%NiCr coating effectively adhered to the substrate, exhibiting lower friction coefficients compared to the A356 substrate. SEM studies of wear test samples demonstrated the various wear processes on the surfaces. The findings of this work indicate that Cr3C2-25 wt%NiCr coating is significantly effective in improving the wear behavior of an A356 substrate.
