Strip tracking and profile control on hot strip mills*
Maîtrise du déport et du profil de bandes sur trains à bandes à chaud
The need to deliver consistent and symmetrical transverse gauge profiles on hot rolled coils has led to investigations of process factors contributing to assymetries.
Plant based trials have been carried out to evaluate relationships between strip tracking (i.e. lateral movement of the strip), uneven transverse temperature distribution and gauge profile wedge.
The results are given and discussed.
Subject of lecture at the ATS Steelmaking Conference 1990 (Paris, December 4-6, 1990, Session 5).
