Production of large diameter linepipe for the transportation of highly corrosive crude oil and natural gas
For the transportation of highly corrosive crude oil and natural gas, either clad low-alloy steel linepipe or austenitic-ferritic duplex steel linepipe can be economically used, depending upon the operating conditions and strength levels required.
The present paper is concerned with the main aspects such as microstructure, precipitation behaviour, heat treatment and mechanical properties of AF 22 large diameter linepipe and of linepipe internally clad with high-alloy materials. In addition, the results of welding tests directed to optimizing the welding processes in pipe production and pipelaying as well as the results of corrosion tests on the high alloy materials are presented.
