The use of coal in the EAF*
L’utilisation du charbon au four électrique
In the electric arc furnace (EAF) process, the use of coal plays a major part in the control of the descent of the scrap charge, in the efficiency of heat transfer to the charge and in the metallurgical treatment of the liquid bath. In order to increase the efficiency and the amount of coal in the EAF, several technologies have been developed in France in the recent years.
