New technologies in steelmaking*
Nouvelles technologies en aciérie
The steelmaking process is currently faced with three major challenges. First, it must continue to reduce costs and improve efficiency. Secondly, it must improve quality, and thirdly it must reduce its impact on the environment. This paper describes some of the innovative ways and new technologies which have been used to address these issues in BOS, EAF and secondary steelmaking.
