Low phosphorus basic oxygen steelmaking practices in British Steel*
Pratiques d’élaboration des aciers à l’oxygène à basse teneur en phosphore à British Steel
British Steel has developed a fluxing practice to produce steels at < 0.010 % phosphorus on demand, when using hot metal with low silicon contents of < 0.40 %. The practices have incorporated a silico-aluminate flux, ore additions, slag chemistry modifications and improved oxygen lance control procedures.
