Hydrocyclone treatment of blast furnace slurry within British Steel*
Traitement des boues de haut-fourneau au moyen d’hydrocyclones à British Steel
In order to improve the recycling possibilities of blast furnace by-products containing lead and zinc and prevent pollutions by residuals in the landfill, British Steel has developped a hydrocyclone treatement of the slurries. The improved value of the recycled products, the reduction in quantity of material destined to the landfill and the low capital cost of the hydrocyclone units give a very short payback. Industrial units have been in sucessfull operation for several months at Llanwern and Redcar. A new unit is planned for Port Talbot.
