Technologies for prolongation of combined blowing converter life*
Techniques permettant d'accroître la durée de vie des convertisseurs à soufflage combiné
Kawasaki Steel at his Mizushima Works achieved a record (7,000 heats) in the life of combined blowing converter (LD-KGC).
The paper presents the technologies used to improve the furnace life : in-operation bottom repair technique, improvements in blowing techniques (used with pretreated hot metal), partial brick relining.
