Study of coal combustion with respect to blast furnace injection*
Étude de la combustion du charbon en vue de son injection au haut fourneau
The combustion of coal proceeds according to a two step mechanism consisting in a fast pyrolysis and volatile combustion followed by a longer step of heterogeneous char combustion. In case of blast furnace injection, coal combustion in the tuyere is delayed due to insufficient heating resulting from a poor mixing with hot blast.
