Cleanliness improvement using a turbulence suppressing tundish impact pad*
Amélioration de la propreté du métal grâce au Turbostop
To reduce steel reoxidation from tundish turbulence, a unique anti-splash impact pad and flow control device changes were studied by water modelling and in-plant trials at LTV Steel. Flow characteristics, operating conditions, steel cleanliness, and coil performance were compared to those of the regular tundish. Steel cleanliness measurement techniques and trial results are discussed.
