Steel cleanliness improvements at National Steel Great Lakes Division, No. 2 caster*

In order to reduce the risk of alumina related defects in pressed parts, countermeasures have been taken at various stages of the production process. Clean steel practices have been developed for the tundish and the carry-over of slag has been controlled wherever possible.
