Technology innovation through automation, as applied in an integrated steel plant in Argentina*
Application de technologies innovantes d'automatisation à une usine sidérurgique integrée d'Argentine
The proper design and implementation of instrumentation and automation systems implies a strong participation of the operating, process, maintenance and engineering personnel. Only by so doing a succesfull project can be guaranteed. The case of Siderar, previously a state owned and run integrated steel plant, now and since 1992 owned and run privately is presented, including the successfull modernization and automation systems implemented in the blast furnace, converters, ladle furnace, continuous caster, hot rolling mill and cold rolling mill during the last three years.
