Construction and operation of the No. 1 round billet CCM at Wakayama Works*
Construction et exploitation de la machine de coulée continue de ronds n° 1 à l’usine de Wakayama
The No. 1 round billet CCM (No. 1 RCC) was started up in July 1996 at Wakayama Works, featuring the tundish hot recycle operation and high speed casting technologies. The tundish is successfully recycled by the hot slag discharge equipment and proper tundish flux selection. The high speed casting, 3.0 m/min with a Ø 191 mm mould, can be achieved thanks to the improvement of oscillation condition and mould fluxes. Machine concept and operating technology of the No. 1 RCC are discussed.
