Report on the Xth International Metallurgical Conference at Trinec (CSSR)
Rapport sur la Xe Conférence Métallurgique Internationale à Trinec, Tchécoslovaquie
The Xth International Metallurgical Conference on « Continuous Casting of Steel » was held on October 17-19, 1989 at Trinec, CSSR.
Over 70 papers were presented, covering the following four areas :

steelmaking requirements for continuous casting,
- —
aspects of caster design and operation,
- —
caster automation, refractories and other auxiliaries,
- —
further processing and product properties.
One quarter of the papers was contributed by authors from the USSR. A particular highlight of this conference was the new five-strand bloom caster of Trinec Iron and Steel Works.
This installation, presently under commissioning, and other parts of the Trinec plant have been toured by participants on the final day of the conference.
