Thin strip casting at Thyssen Stahl, using single or double roller*
La coulée continue de bandes minces sur machine à un ou deux cylindres à Thyssen Stahl
Two different routes for producing the strips are being tried by Thyssen Stahl : a single-roller machine for thicknesses of up to 0.3 mm is in use in Duisburg ; and a double-roller machine for strip in thicknesses between 0.3 mm and 1.0 mm is being operated jointly with the University of Aachen, in Aachen.
The single-roller machine operates according to the planar-flow casting process, producing strips of up to 150 mm in width
The double-roller machine is operated fully automatically under computer control.
Production speeds of up to 6 m/s are possible.
The width of the strips at present is 150 mm.
