Automatic rolling technology for a fully continuous cold tandem mill*
Laminage automatique au tandem continu continu
A new mill set-up system giving the optimal rolling speed pattern has been developed at the No. 2 fully continuous cold tandem mill at Sumitomo Kashima Steel Works. The optimal strip rolling speed pattern is calculated in order to prevent unnecessary rolling speed reductions, taking into account the total strip length accumulated in the loop-car (accumulator) before rolling. The new set-up system is now applied and operates the mill automatically without reducing the production efficiency.
