New technology for treating EAF dust by a vacuum heating reduction process*
The Vacuum Heating Reduction (VHR) process involves separating of metallic zinc from EAF dust and recycling its ferrous residue briquettes into the EAF. In this process, zinc oxide in EAF dust is reduced by a reductant (Fe, FeO) under the vacuum heating atmosphere and converted to a metallic form. The VHR process enables EAF dust to be completely recycled on the site of a steel plant.
