The use of STEELTEMP® software in heating control
L’utilisation du programme STEELTEMP® pour la maîtrise du réchauffage des brames
The STEELTEMP® software for heating conies in two main editions, edition I for flat and round products, using a finite-difference 2D technique, and edition III for flat products, using a finite- element (FEM) 3D technique.
The 3D code is capable of taking into account non-uniform heating of stocks caused by radiation shadowing from the skid pipes, the contact between the wearer bars and the stocks and end effects in the stocks. The 3D temperature calculations have been verified against trials made in slab pusher furnace No. 2 at SSAB Oxelosund’s heavy plate mill and slab walking beam furnace No. 302 at SSAB Tunnplat’s hot strip mill.
