A study of the temperature effect on the thermomechanical behavior in a shape memory single crystal CuA1Be 0.57% has been carried out. Tensile tests allow us to identify the superelastic effect in the CuAlBe alloy which occurs in the austenitic state (T > Af). We have plotted the stress vs deformation curves for different temperatures from –40 to 140 °C. At the loading between 0 to 350 MPa, two types of martensites had been shown. The analysis of the results led to plot the (stress-temperature) state diagram which defines the different fields of martensites types.
Key words: Shape Memory Alloys / superelastic effect / CuAlBe single crystal / critical stresses
