Development of a runout table cooling system for a hot strip mill*
Développement d’un système de contrôle du refroidissement à la sortie d’un train à bandes
Sumitomo Metal Industries, Ltd, has developed a new control system for the runout table cooling in the hot strip mill at Kashima Steel Works. The new features are an over-head water tank, pipe laminar headers via two pipes, spray cooling headers for thin strips, and a high performance process computer. This system operates with a model that precisely predicts the strip temperature. The system has increased the automatic operation ratio of the coiling temperature control, and has significantly improved the coiling temperature accuracy.
