REDSMELT® : a friendly ironmaking process for minimills
REDSMELT®, un procédé simple de fabrication de fonte pour mini-usine
The REDSMELT® process is a simple and reliable technology for the production of hot metal with capacities, investment and operating cost that can suitably match with a minimill.
It is based on the direct reduction of iron ore fines with coal in a rotary reduction furnace and the subsequent smelting of the prereduced iron in a submerged arc furnace.
