DC furnace at Florida Steel Corp. in Tampa/USA*
The experience gained from the operating results of a 30 t DC furnace and a comparison of this unit with an existing AC arc furnace of the same size that was operated at the Tampa plant gave rise to Florida Steel Corporationfs decision of installing a new 60 t DC arc furnace.
In mid 1989, Deutsche Voest-Alpine Industrieanlagenbau GmbH and Florida Steel Corp., Tampa USA, signed a contract for the development of a new DC arc furnace as well as its implementation at the works of Florida Steel Corp. at Tampa.
