The ABB DC arc furnace : past, present, future
Le four à arc à courant continu de ABB - Le passé, le présent, le futur
The ABB DC arc furnace is equipped with a conductive bottom design, made of prefabricated bricks, which offers an extremely large contact area and thus low current density and enables the use of conventional brick laying and maintenance.
The DC technic presents following advantages :
- –
reduction of power consumption of 50 %
- –
reduction of electric power of about 5 %
- –
reduction of refractory and maintenance costs
- –
reduction of flicker influence
- –
improvement of heat distribution and metallurgical control due to the stirring effect.
