The EMBr : a new metallurgical instrument for clean steel ? First results at Hoogovens IJmuiden*
Le frein électromagnétique, nouvel outil métallurgique pour l'obtention d'acier propre. Premiers résultats d'Hoogovens IJmuiden
An ElectroMagnetic Brake (EMBr) has been installed on one mould of CC 22 in Hoogovens BOS No.2. The aim is a 50 % decrease of the number of inclusions through reduction of the velocities of the steel in the mould. Trials indicate an improved stability of the meniscus and an increase in temperature at the meniscus. Some results from intermediate and final products are presented.
