Study of the fluid flow in the mould for high quality slab casting*
Étude des écoulements en lingotière pour la coulée continue de brames de qualité
Using a combination of water model experiments, numerical simulations and plant measurements, the flow of argon and steel in the mould of a continuous caster is investigated. Insight is gained in the influence of argon injection on the flow patterns in the mould and in the way in which the flow of argon and steel determines slab quality.
