Numerical simulation of refractory erosion caused by carbon dissolution in a blast furnace*
Simulation numérique de l'usure des réfractaires du creuset de haut-fourneau
A mathematical model for the description of the carbon dissolution from the hearth wall is presented and the erosion rate is predicted via numerical computations based on the iron flow. Different experimental conditions in the coke at the hearth wall and bottom are investigated.
The model, which makes it possible to study erosion process for different operating situations, is a supporting tool for controlling erosion during a campaign life.
