Increase of BOF capacity by direct tapping
Augmentation de la capacité de production des convertisseurs par rabattement direct
Over the last 10 years, a series of modifications, leading to an increase of productivity in the Sidmar steelplant, were put in operation. For the BOF, the capacity increase is obtained by reducing the tap-to-tap time of the vessel and by introduction of calculation models originally leading to quick tapping. Downgrades due to chemical composition were reduced drastically at the same time. By the end of last year even direct tapping was introduced. Presently this allows the production of more than 4.25 million metric tons of liquid steel per year (one vessel out of two in operation).
