Modal analysis and vibratory modelling for an industrial cold rolling mill stand*
Signature vibratoire de cage au tandem à froid
Research has been performed on Finite Element vibration modelling for a single 4-high industrial stand in a cold rolling mill, in order to assess precisely the vibration modes in the frequency range [0-1000] hertz. The dynamic behaviour of the whole mechanical structure is very useful to analyse the stand vibratory signature in terms of diagnosis, to study the sensitivity of the modal parameters with respect to different configurations (rolling working points, technological features, etc.), as well as to appreciate qualitatively industrial harmful vibration phenomena, like the 3rd octave chatter or the 5th octave surface defects on the final product.
