Combustion mechanism of pulverized coal injected into blast furnace and its simulation*
Observation et simulation du mécanisme de combustion du charbon pulvérisé au haut-fourneau
In order to understand the behaviour of pulverized coal injected into blast furnaces, direct observation of the combustion using high-speed camera was carried out. It was found that the combustion flame of pulverized coal was not uniform across the cross-section in blowpipe and tuyere. The flow pattern of pulverized coal particles governed by injection lance arrangement had a significant effect on combustibility. On the basis of these observations, an advanced simulation model taking the particle dispersion into account has been developed.
