Technology of high-rate pulverized coal injection into blast furnace*
Forts taux d’injection de charbon pulvérisé au haut-fourneau à NSC
Based on the results obtained from off-line model experiments and actual furnace tests, a high-rate pulverized coal injection operation was carried out at Kimitsu No. 3 blast furnace of Nippon Steel Corporation. A technology to achieve a stable blast furnace operation at the PCI rate of 190 kg/t has been established. For a stable operation at PCI rates greater than 200 kg/t and coke rates below 300 kg/t, the reduction-melting behaviour of ore at the lower part of the furnace has to be improved.
