Progress in the production of grade 52100 at Ascométal Fos and Dunes mills*
Mise sous contrôle de l'élaboration de l'acier à roulement 100C6 dans les usines d'Ascométal de Fos et des Dunes
The 52100 bearing steel grade is now produced in the three steel shops of Ascométal. In order to achieve and maintain a high level of cleanliness, procedures have been defined for steelmaking, secondary metallurgy, prevention of reoxidations and selection of refractories. The rolling contact fatigue behaviour has been significantly improved. The same level of quality is achieved in steel produced by continuous casting as by ingot casting.
