Desulphurisation during RH treatment at Hoogovens Staal*
Désulfuration au RH à Hoogovens IJmuiden
For the production of calcium treated HSLA steel grades, it is important to produce steel with very low sulphur levels (maximum 50 ppm sulphur in the finished products).
At Hoogovens Staal BOS No. 2, a method has been developed to desulphurize steel after the BOS process, using the RH-OB installation. In this new method, it is not necessary to install injection equipment.
The result of this method is a very high hitting rate for steel grades with maximum 50 ppm sulphur.
