First operating results of HYLSA's CSP plant*
Premiers résultats d'exploitation de l'usine CSP de Hylsa
The first compact strip production (CSP) plant in Latin America started operation in February 1995 at Hylsa S.A. de C.V. in Monterrey, Mexico, with a single EAF and LMF operation. The thin slab casting machine is of the SMS design. Sequences of five heats were already accomplished 2 months after commissioning. Main features of steelmaking, thin slab casting and rolling in a six stand finishing mill designed for a large variety of steel grades and a final gauge of 1 mm are described.
