Ladle steel reaheating with oxygen : research pilot plant experiments and implementation at the Steelton plant*
Réchauffage de l'acier en poche par soufflage d'oxygène : expérimentation sur pilote et mise en œuvre à l'aciérie de Steelton
A low-cost oxygen blowing process for reheating steel in the ladle was developed by research pilot plant experimentation and implemented at the Steelton plant. With stirring after oxygen reheating no adverse effect on the product quality was found. Benefits include more flexibility for caster sequences, fewer scrapped heats and improved productivity.
