Abstract

The No. 2 cold tandem mill at Kashima Steel Works (2KCM) has been newly constructed. There are four key technologies. First, a fully automated operation system has been realized in rolling mill, roll shop and coil transportation. Second, high accuracy of thickness has been accomplished. Third, pair cross mill is introduced as the first application to cold rolling. Fourth, a perfect clean system is adopted. In this paper, outline of the 2KCM and rolling characteristics of pair cross mill are discussed.
