Application of large capacity three-level GTO inverters for plate mill drives*
Commande de train à tôles fortes par convertisseur de grande puissance à trois niveaux
After the replacement of the drive motors of the roughing mill, the drive control system itself was changed for the Kashima plate mill. It was decided to adopt large capacity, three level gate turnoff thyristor inverters (GTO). These inverters allow complete regeneration of snubber energy, control of the power factor and more efficient speed control. As a result, productivity is improved and running costs reduced.
