Rapid analysis of steelmaking slag by energy-dispersive X-ray fluorescence spectrometry*

Rapid analysis of steelmaking slag by the combination of a new sampling technique and EDX has been developed.
In the present method, the analysis time has been shortened to about 5 min. Moreover, the features of the present method are low cost, easy operation and useful accuracy for the process control.
By using the present method, it has been possible to control the process by feedback of the slag composition in nearly real time in the steelmaking process.
