Improvement of steelmaking technology for production of ultra low carbon steel at No. 3 steelmaking shop in Chiba Works*
Amélioration des techniques d’élaboration pour la production d’aciers à très basse teneur en carbone à l’aciérie n° 3 de l’usine de Chiba
Ultra low carbon steel making at No. 3 steelmaking shop in Chiba works has been improved by the development of KTB (Kawatetsu Top Blowing) equipment which can blow oxygen gas onto the molten steel surface during decarburization treatment in the RH degassing vessel by blowing lance.
The results are related, particularly the reducing of tap temperature by 26 °C, the increasing of C content before RH and the shortening of decarburization time.
